£18 million bid on Olympic transport (Daily Echo, Aug 26): "AN £18 MILLION bid to help people in Weymouth and Portland breathe more easily and let buses take the strain during the 2012 Olympics is under way. Plans include improving junctions at hotspots, intelligent' use of traffic signals, introducing new technology such as real time' passenger information on display screens at bus stops, and sending data to mobile phones." EU Project Promises Safer Traffic (PC World, Aug 27): "A system to avoid traffic jams, accidents and other dangers will be demonstrated at IFA in Berlin by the Coopers (Cooperative Systems for Intelligent Road Safety) project." Read more

Las Vegas Transit Authority Deploys March Networks Mobile Video Surveillance Solution for Security and Risk Management (Market Watch, Aug 26): "March Networks, a leading provider of intelligent IP video and business analysis applications, announced today that the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) is using the Company's mobile video surveillance solutions for security and risk management on its para-transit and fixed route buses."
