1) ADVANCED TMC WILL HELP TO MONITOR AJMAN'S TRAFFIC FLOW

"An Advanced Traffic Management Centre (TMC) was launched in Ajman yesterday to help monitor traffic congestions and defaults in the signals and address the issue instantly. The centre set up by the Ajman Department of Municipality and Planning in coordination with the Ajman Traffic Police is linked to all traffic signals which are being modified to be compatible with the advanced equipment at the TMC."

2) TRAFFIC.COM AWARDS TRANSCORE WITH TRAFFIC SENSOR EXPANSIONS IN NINE METROPOLITAN AREAS ACROSS THE COUNTRY

3) TELVENT AWARDED ITS FIRST TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT PROJECT IN INDIA

"Telvent, the IT company for a sustainable and secure world, announced today that it has been awarded a contract to design, construct and commission a traffic infrastructure management system for the City of Mumbai. The Municipal Corporation of Mumbai chose Telvent in collaboration with the Indian company CMS Computers Ltd, to lead this nine million euro project financed by the World Bank. The aim of the project is to enhance traffic mobility and fluidity, as well as increase the average vehicle speed on Mumbai's roads."

4) JAPAN AND SOUTH KOREA HAVE AMBITIOUS GOALS FOR INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS, SAYS ABI RESEARCH

"Japan and Korea lead the world in Intelligent Transportation Systems, and national government agendas are among the most significant drivers for the development of ITS there. This leadership role leverages an already positive market climate for ITS services and consumer demand for telematics and LBS applications for vehicles, according to a new report from ABI Research."

5) EC TO SPENT £1.36BN ON INTELLIGENT TRANSPORT OVER NEXT SEVEN YEARS

"Jacques Barrot, Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of Transport addressed an 'e-safety Conference' in Berlin on Tuesday, and told delegates that a roughly €2bn (£1.36bn) share of the European Research and the trans-European Transport Network budgets for the period 2007 -2013 will be devoted to intelligent transport. M. Barrot intends to present a Green Paper in September on urban transport which will also look at ITS solutions such as interoperable tolling systems to optimise use of infrastructure in towns. He will also present a Logistics action plan in October."

6) TAMPA EL GOING GREAT - UNDERLINES CASE FOR ALL ELECTRONIC TOLL COLLECTION

"Tampa's Reversible Express Lanes (EL) are going great. And the Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA), its owner, is being showered with awards for the innovative project. The three elevated lanes in the median of the established 2x2 lanes of the eastern part of the Selmon Crosstown Expressway have transformed the peak hour trips of people traveling to inner and downtown Tampa. Queueing and creep made the ten mile commute an average of 30 minutes when there were just two lanes of the old expressway inbound."

7) STERIA EXTENDS TAXI MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AT HEATHROW TERMINAL 5

"Steria, a leading European end-to-end IT services provider, has been appointed by BAA to deploy a taxi management system at the new Heathrow Terminal 5. The new £4.3 billion development, due to open in March 2008, will cater for around 30 million passengers annually. 8) MAZDA TO PARTICIPATE IN ITS TRIALS ON PUBLIC ROADS IN HIROSHIMA

"To promote improved road safety, Mazda Motor Corporation has announced its intention to take part in public road trials in the Hiroshima area to help validate a new Intelligent Transport System. The road trials are due to commence in fall 2007. The objective of this new traffic system is to work toward solutions for transport problems such as road accidents, congestion and damage to the environment."
